All the toys I build are my own design, I just look at something and see a finished project, the cannon above was from an old table leg. Was looking at it one day, when I saw the curves I knew what I wanted to do with it, and this is how it turned out. Hand painted in Colonial style.
These two were made of wood, the artillary gun on tracks was my own design, the 88 mm on the left was taken from a picture on a model box.
This ships cannon was made from an old table leg, just turned it a bit on my lath and made the carriage from 2 x 4 wood. Hand painted, this item was sold.
These two WW II German armor units are Solido 1/48 scale die cast units. The armor units were painted in winter camouflage and so well done they blend into the scenery and are hard to see, which is the point. Both these units were sold to a collector in Australia.
This is a vintage lowboy trailer with a small dozer. All these items are made of wood and odd material I find around the workshop, probably 1/76 scale.
These are my design of what in the Anthracite coal regions are know as Steel Castles. I build them from scrap pieces of wood around the shop, then add outbuilding and equipment which one would expect to find around these breakers as they were called. The name "Breaker" came from the fact that they broke large lumps of coal into smaller pieces for use for both commercial steam engines and as home fuel. Most of who know what these are had coal stoves in the kitchen for daily use, summer and winter.
The above picture was taken during the building of breaker on the left. As you can see I just use whatever is available in the wood box and junk box.
To the left is a close up of the detail on the tractor and the Dozer, again all are made of wood and items found in my junk box. The rims on the truck are snaps from my wife's sewing box, grille on Dozer is a piece of window screen, gear shift is a stick pin, and of course various pieces of wire.
